The Great Big Comedy Picnic. 2003 onwards.A compilation show that Ian Fox has produced and performed in since 2003 when it was first housed at The Pod - a giant space age tent. Since then it's been in various locations including a disused cinema and various pub basements. In 2005 it became part of the Free Festival programme. A protest movement against the soaring costs for performers at one of the world's largest arts festivals. In 2006 and 2007 it was a critics' choice and got 4 star reviews in 3 weeks. Over the years the Picnic has featured Greg Cook, Ashley Frieze, Paul Betney, The Mighty Swob, Susan Vale, Rob Hallam, Dave Turquoise, Chris Roche and many others. It's also included guest spots from Alan Carr, Jason Manford, Seymour Mace, Mick Ferry, Anvil Springstien and Alfie Joey. |
