Career
Bio
Ashley Frieze is a musical comedian, currently performing support and
headline slots at clubs all around the country. His likeable, electric onstage
persona and hilarious songs make him the perfect act to add variety and energy
to any line up.
Ashley also regularly MC's, and with his endless enthusiasm, dynamism and charm,
can warm up and entertain any audience.
Ashley has been performing on the UK stand-up comedy circuit since the beginning of 2003. In that time he has
performed extensively across much of the UK, as far north as the Highlands of
Scotland and as far south as Penzance. He has made people laugh in comedy clubs,
rock festivals and on moving buses.
While many guitar-based acts use their musical skills to show off to an
audience, Ashley has a unique angle: he cannot play the guitar especially well.
To distract from such mediocre musicianship, his songs are rich with jokes,
wordplay and audience interaction: he has brought many a heckler down with a
jaunty melody. Ashley's musings on love songs have resulted in some of the most
unusual ballads ever written, and his tongue-in-cheek musings on life and love
are as ridiculous as they are heart-felt.
With an infectiously joyous style of delivery and the energy to bombard the
audience with quick-fire lines, Ashley's self-effacing and jolly persona will
lift any room.
Edinburgh Fringe appearances 2003-2009 include various stand-up sets, The
Seven Deadly Jokes
(with Hannah George), The Great Big Comedy Picnic
comedy showcase (Laughing Horse @ Canons' Gait, 2005 & 2006, Counting
House 2007, Meadow Bar 2008) and
co-starring in the highly successful comedy play
The Musical!
(Underbelly, 2004), which he also co-wrote.
